Flashes of Insight: Remembering the Light Within

insights

There are moments in life when the mind grows quiet enough for truth to slip through.
Not as a thought, and not quite as a feeling — something deeper.
A knowing.

These flashes of insight come to us when the noise of the world loosens its grip, and the Self beneath the character finally has room to be heard.

For years, I called myself a spiritual person.
But it wasn’t until more recent seasons of my life that spirituality shifted from a curiosity… into a foundation.
A way of seeing.
A way of being.

And with that shift, something remarkable happened:

The world didn’t change — I did.
And through this inner shift, life began reflecting a different reality back to me.

The Illusion of the Inner Drama

Even with sincere intention, the ego is quick to take the stage — turning simple experiences into emotional storms, and small challenges into elaborate narratives.

But as I began looking more deeply into the nature of the Self, I saw something clearly:

Most of the suffering we experience is created unconsciously.

Not out of malice, but out of:

  • old conditioning
  • unresolved fear
  • inherited beliefs
  • habitual patterns
  • misunderstood emotions

These inner distortions veil our true nature.
And as they dissolve, the Self that remains is revealed to be spacious, loving, and whole.

Transformation is not about becoming something new —
it is the gentle unraveling of what we are not.

The First Flash of Knowing

One of the clearest insights I’ve ever experienced came unexpectedly.

I was driving through the redwoods near the Russian River in California, a road I had traveled countless times.
Something about the stillness that day, the light through the trees, the silence of my mind… made the moment feel different.

And suddenly, without effort, a knowing emerged:

We are Source (the universe) experiencing itself.

Not metaphorically.
Not poetically.
Literally.

One consciousness appearing as many, so it can know itself through infinite forms, infinite perspectives, infinite lives.

It was as if the world briefly stopped pretending to be separate.

In that instant, everything felt unified:

the trees
the road
the sky
the other travelers
and myself.

All expressions of pure consciousness, exploring itself in endless ways.

The insight was simple, but its implications endless.

The Nature of Consciousness (and Its Expression as Love)

In the years that followed, more realizations arose — often subtle, sometimes profound.

The second insight was just as clear:

Consciousness and love are the same.
Two words pointing to one essence.

This is why, in countless near-death experiences, people describe being enveloped in an indescribable love — unconditional, boundless, and eternal.

They are touching the truth of their own being.

Love is not an emotion that fluctuates.
It is the fabric of consciousness itself.
It is what we come from, what we return to, and what we are beneath the layers of fear.

When we forget this, unconsciousness arises.
When we remember, healing begins.

Seeing Through the Veil of Separation

Every moment of unconsciousness is a moment of forgetting who we are.

Fear, anger, doubt, judgment — all of them are distorted expressions of love, blocked by misunderstanding.

When we learn to recognize this, something softens:

  • compassion grows
  • reactions become responses
  • old patterns loosen
  • awareness becomes a guiding light

The path of awakening is not about perfection.
It is about remembering.
Again and again, until remembering becomes our natural state.

The Journey Continues Within

These flashes of insight are not rare gifts.
They are natural openings that occur whenever resistance quiets and the heart becomes receptive.

Every traveler will have their own moments of clarity —
moments when the illusion thins and the truth of their nature shines through.

The key is not to chase these moments, but to remain open:

open to seeing
open to questioning
open to remembering
open to returning to the Self.

For the deeper reality has never left us.
We simply look away from it.

May Your Own Insights Find You

As you continue your journey Beyond Maya, may you discover:

clarity where there was confusion,
peace where there was tension,
love where there was fear,
and the quiet knowing that you are far more than the character you play.

The flashes of insight that changed my life were not extraordinary —
they were reminders of what was already true.

And that same truth lives within you, waiting for its moment to be realized.
